TYPICAL DUTCH MEAL #2: Stroopwafels

Looking for a something to eat that is typical from The Netherlands? Then we have the perfect one for you! Stroopwafels are a waffel made from two thin layers of baked batter with caramel (like syrup) fillling in the middle.

The stroopwafel was first made in Gouda, a city in the south of Holland, in the late 18th century by a baker using leftovers from the bakery.

TIP! Before you eat it, place it on top of a cup of hot drink (tea, hot chocolate, or coffee) and it will soften up. The filling will melt making the stroopwafel extra delicious.
